Kolkata, Oct. 15 -- In a significant development, the union Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to enhance the security cover for some of West Bengal's top BJP leaders in view of recent attacks targeting party functionaries.
The move follows the assault on BJP MP from Malda South, Khagen Murmu, and the party's chief whip in the state assembly, Shankar Ghosh, during their visit to Nagrakata in North Bengal a few days ago.
The two leaders had gone there to review the flood situation and oversee relief work.
While Ghosh was discharged from hospital the next day, Murmu, who suffered a fractured cheekbone, had to undergo surgery and is still recuperating.
