Itanagar, Dec. 5 -- In a significant boost to counter-insurgency operations in the region, the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles, in close coordination with the Arunachal Pradesh Police, successfully apprehended an active cadre of the NSCN (K - Niki Sumi) faction during a well-planned operation in the general area of Hukanjuri in Arunachal Pradesh's Tirap district on Thursday, an AR official said on Friday.
The joint operation was launched after receiving credible intelligence inputs from multiple security channels including the Eastern Command Intelligence Battalion (ECIB) and 3 CIB, which were further corroborated by 19 WEU, confirming the presence of an armed insurgent in the locality.
