Imphal, Sept. 21 -- In the aftermath of the September 19 ambush at Nambol Sabal Leikai, which claimed the lives of two Assam Rifles personnel, security forces have stepped up counter-insurgency operations across Manipur.
A massive operation was launched in Shantipur and Ishok areas, leading to the detention of two persons for verification yesterday. A silver-blue Maruti van bearing registration number MN01W-6624, suspected to have been used in the ambush, was recovered from Mutum Yangbi, Ward No. 1. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the vehicle had changed hands several times, and efforts are underway to trace further links.
