Aizawl, Feb. 4 -- Security forces in Mizoram have seized a significant quantity of explosives over the past 11 days, arresting four individuals suspected of smuggling the materials, reportedly meant for insurgent groups across the border.
According to a press release from the Assam Rifles, the first seizure took place on January 26 at Edenthar, on the western outskirts of Aizawl, where security personnel confiscated 7,000 electric detonators and apprehended one suspect.
Three days later, a joint operation by the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police resulted in the seizure of 4,450 electric detonators at the Khankawn police check gate in Champhai district, near the Myanmar border. Another suspect was taken into custody.
