Imphal, Nov. 9 -- Security forces on Saturday destroyed poppy plantations spread across about 5 acres in Songlung village and nearby areas of Lhangjol and Waphong villages, located under Kangchup police station in Manipur's Kangpokpi district, officials said on Sunday.

According to the police, eight empty cartridges, three fertilizer bags, and poppy seeds, found near three burnt huts at the site of the poppy cultivation, were seized.

This action is part of a continued effort by joint security forces. On November 2, the Assam Rifles, along with the CRPF and Manipur Police, carried out a coordinated anti-narcotics operation in Kangpokpi district.
