Imphal, Aug. 20 -- In a series of well-coordinated operations, Security Forces and the Manipur Police have arrested several individuals involved in extortion and narcotics trafficking, reinforcing the state's intensified efforts against militancy and drug-related crimes.
An active militant was arrested from Khurai Heikru Makhong Masjid Maning under Heingang Police Station, Imphal East district. He was apprehended from the vicinity of his residence.
In a separate operation, a self-styled corporal was arrested from his residence at Wangkhei Angom Leikai under Porompat Police Station, Imphal East district. He was found to be involved in extorting money from the general public in the valley areas.
