Kolkata, Dec. 27 -- The security status for West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manoj Agarwal has been upgraded to Y plus category with immediate effect and the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will man the CEO office in Kolkata after recent demonstrations around the election office protesting ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the state.
The union Home Ministry following several recommendations ordered the upgradation of the security system of the CEO to Y plus category and deployment of the CAPF in the CEO office with immediate effect, official sources said today.
From now, the CEO would be guarded by the central armed forces and any entry into the CEO office needs permission from the central forces.
