Madurai, April 23 -- Security measures have been beefed up in Southern districts and along the entire South Eastern Coast of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, after terrorists opened fire on tourists, killing 26 of them, in one of the most deadly attacks at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.
Police sources said security heightened across all historic and ancient temples and other places of worship, besides major railway stations, popular tourist spots and vital installations in Southern, Central and Delta districts of the State.
A blanket security cover was put in place in the Indian territorial waters along the south eastern coast supported by 'air and sea' surveillance by the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and Tamil Nadu Marine Police.
