Hyderabad, Nov. 4 -- A 36-year-old resident of Secunderabad lost Rs 2.47 lakh in a cyber fraud after receiving a fake message claiming to be from DTDC courier.

The message stated that a second delivery attempt for his parcel had failed.

Believing it to be genuine, as he was expecting his vehicle's Registration Certificate (RC), the victim clicked on the link provided in the message.

Soon after clicking the link, his phone froze and multiple OTP messages started flooding his device. Moments later, he received alerts indicating that around Rs 2,47,000 had been spent from his credit card. The victim immediately locked his card through his banking app and contacted Kotak Bank's helpline to block the card and lodge a complaint.
