Hyderabad, Dec. 14 -- The second phase of the three-phase Gram Panchayat (GP) elections commenced across Telangana at 0700 hours on Sunday.

Polling will continue until 1300 hours, after which counting of votes will begin at 1400 hours. The results are expected to be declared later in the evening.

According to the State Election Commission (SEC), over 57.22 lakh voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in this phase.

A total of 12,782 candidates are contesting for 3,911 sarpanch posts, while 29,917 candidates are in the fray for ward member positions.
