Chennai, Oct. 4 -- Indian Coast Guard Ship Akshar, the second ship of the eight in series Adamya-class Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs), was commissioned at Karaikal today. Dipti Mohil Chawla, Additional Secretary, Department of Defence, Ministry of Defence, commissioned it in the presence of Additional Director General Donny Michael, Coast Guard Commander Eastern Seaboard and senior dignitaries of the Central and state government.
'Akshar' means 'imperishable,' which is a projection of Indian Coast Guard's will and commitment in ensuring safe, secure, and clean seas.
