Kolhapur / Sindhudurg, Oct. 8 -- The State Excise Department (SED) seized India-made foreign liquor worth Rs 93.60 lakh from a container truck while being transported illegally in Maharashtra from neighbouring Goa at Insuli toll naka on the Goa-Mumbai National Highway early today and arrested two men in this connection.
According to SED officials, acting on a tip-off, the SED team stopped a container truck on suspicion at the Insuli toll plaza this morning.
Upon inspection, the team found 1,500 boxes (72,000 bottles) of Royal Blue Malt Whisky, worth Rs 93.60 lakh.
They also confiscated the truck worth approximately Rs 15 lakh and two Android mobile phones, bringing the value of total seizure to Rs 1,08,80,000.
