Hyderabad, Oct. 22 -- General Observer Ranjit Kumar Singh observed the scrutiny of nominations for the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency by-election at the office of the Returning Officer today.

Returning Officer P Sairam instructed Assistant Returning Officers to conduct a thorough verification of nominations in accordance with Election Commission of India rules.

A total of 211 candidates filed 321 nominations for the by-election. Given the large number of nominations, the scrutiny process is expected to take considerable time. Candidates have been given until October 24 to withdraw their nominations.
