Chandigarh, Dec. 14 -- A powerful explosion ripped through a scrap storage facility in Jalandhar on Friday, killing one person and critically injuring two others, officials said.
The blast was so intense that windowpanes of nearby houses shattered, and residents reported hearing the sound from nearly a kilometre away.
Police from Division No. 8 rushed to the spot soon after the incident and cordoned off the area.
The deceased has been identified as Rajinder, a resident of Santokhpura. The injured were immediately shifted to the civil hospital, where their condition was stated to be serious.
