Edinburgh, Dec. 1 -- Owen Dawkins, a prominent name in the England domestic cricket circles, having coached full-time at Gloucestershire since 2006, will now take over the reins of Scotland.

He replaces Doug Watson, who left in September after a two year tenure. Assisting Dawkins will be former Scotland skipper Gordon Drummond.

According to International Cricket Council (ICC), Dawkins believed he could make an impact and change Scotland's fortunes going ahead.

"I think now is just the right opportunity for where the team is and where I am, that I really feelI can make an impact," Dawkins said.

The European side have endured some tough results recently, including an underwhelming campaign in the T20 World Cup Qualifier.
