Srinagar, Dec. 21 -- Scientists from Iran and Kashmir have launched a collaborative initiative to revolutionize saffron farming, with a high-level Iranian delegation visiting the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) today to exchange expertise.
Iran and Kashmir are two of the world's leading saffron-growing regions.
Recognized with a Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2020, Kashmiri saffron - cultivated mainly in the Pampore area of south Kashmir - is renowned for its rich aroma, deep crimson colour, and medicinal and culinary value, making it one of the most prized spices in the world.
