New Delhi, Sept. 24 -- Senior Advocate Vikas Singh, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), has written to Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai, pressing for urgent reforms in the judicial appointments system and finalisation of the long-pending Memorandum of Procedure (MoP).
Calling for a "transparent, merit-driven, and equitable framework" to replace the existing collegium mechanism, Singh said the current system, though intended to safeguard judicial independence, suffers from "structural flaws" that have created serious challenges.
