Nahan (HP), Dec. 27 -- A landmark verdict on the encroachment of government land has brought significant relief to lakhs of poor and marginal families across Himachal Pradesh, who have been living on and cultivating such land for generations.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, a senior Supreme Court advocate said the court delivered its historic judgment on December 16, in the Ujagar Singh versus state government case. The petition was filed on behalf of Ujagar Singh, a resident of Rajgarh Sawana, whose family had been cultivating a piece of land for decades before it was later recorded in the name of the forest department.
