New Delhi, Oct. 13 -- In a significant order, the Supreme Court today transferred the probe into the tragic Karur stampede during actor Vijay's political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) rally on September 27 that claimed 41 lives, to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), citing the need for a "fair and impartial investigation.""The issues have a bearing on the fundamental rights of citizens, and the incident which has shaken the national conscience deserves a fair investigation. There cannot be any doubt that a fair probe is the citizens' right," observed a Bench comprising Justice J.K. Maheshwari and Justice N.V. Anjaria, while issuing the interim order.
