New Delhi, Oct. 8 -- Tamil actor Vijay's political outfit, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has approached the Supreme Court challenging the Madras High Court's order forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the Karur stampede, killing 41 people, on September 27.
The plea, filed through TVK secretary Aadhav Arjuna, was mentioned before Chief Justice of India BR Gavai for urgent listing.
The CJI agreed to hear the petition on Friday, when another related plea challenging the High Court's refusal to transfer the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is also scheduled to be taken up.
