New Delhi, Nov. 19 -- The Supreme Court has stayed the Madras High Court's order transferring the investigation into themurder of BSP Tamil Nadu Unit President and prominent Dalit activist Armstrong to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The stay came while the Court was hearing a special leave petition filed by the Tamil Nadu government challenging the HighCourt's order quashing the chargesheet filed by the State Police and directing a CBI probe.
A bench comprising Justice JK Maheshwari and Justice Vijay Bishnoi noted that although the Supreme Court had earlier, onOctober 10, stayed the High Court's decision quashing the chargesheet, it had not halted the CBI investigation.
