New Delhi, July 16 -- The Supreme Court today stayed the Madras High Court's July 4 order directing fresh elections for the Tamil Nadu Football Association (TNFA), citing non-compliance with earlier court directives.

A bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi passed the interim order while issuing notice on two pleas, including one filed by the Chennai Football Association challenging the High Court decision.

"The affairs of the Tamil Nadu Football Association shall continue to be looked after by the Administrative Committee, which was earlier appointed by the High Court," the bench directed.
