New Delhi, Jan. 28 -- The Supreme Court stayed the criminal proceedings against Opposition Leader in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Edappadi K Palaniswami over allegations of submitting false information regarding his wealth and education in the 2021 assembly election affidavit.
A bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta on Monday issued a notice to the State of Tamil Nadu and ordered a stay on the First Information Report (FIR) registered in 2024.
"Issue notice and further proceedings in First Information Report (FIR) 15 of 2024 shall remain stayed," the Bench directed.
