New Delhi, Nov. 25 -- The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice on a petition filed by MDMK founder and former Rajya Sabha MP Vaiko challenging the Election Commission of India's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu.

A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi sought a response from the ECI and posted the matter for further consideration on December 2.

Vaiko has contended that the SIR notification is unconstitutional, alleging violations of Articles 14, 19, 21, 325 and 326 of the Constitution, along with multiple provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1950 and the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.
