New Delhi, Oct. 11 -- The Supreme Court today reserved its verdict on a batch of petitions seeking permission to manufacture, sell, and use certified "green" firecrackers in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).
A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai and Justice K. Vinod Chandran indicated that it may consider easing the current restrictions, observing that a "complete ban on bursting of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR is neither practical nor ideal."Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the union Government, submitted that Delhi is home to people of diverse communities who celebrate different festivals at various times of the day.
