New Delhi, July 19 -- The Supreme Court has dismissed YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP PV Midhun Reddy's plea seeking protection from arrest in the Rs 3,200 crore Andhra Pradesh liquor scam, clearing the way for the state CID's Special Investigation Team (SIT) to initiate coercive action against him.
A Bench comprising Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R Mahadevan on Friday refused to entertain Reddy's petition challenging the Andhra Pradesh High Court's July 15 order rejecting his anticipatory bail plea.
Despite repeated requests from Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Reddy, the Court declined to grant even a week's time for him to surrender.
"We will not say anything," the Bench remarked, effectively closing the matter.
