New Delhi, June 4 -- The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a plea filed by the Delhi Waqf Board asserting rights over a property in Shahdara, observing that a fully functioning Gurudwara exists on the disputed site.
A bench of justices Sanjay Karol and Satish Chandra Sharma refused to entertain the Waqf Board's special leave petition challenging a 2010 Delhi High Court judgment, which had set aside the Board's claim over the property.
The case dates back to the 1980s when the Delhi Waqf Board filed a suit for possession of a mosque allegedly located at village Oldanpur, Shahdara, against Hira Singh (now deceased).
