New Delhi, Nov. 12 -- The Supreme Court today reaffirmed that insurance companies cannot escape their liability to compensate victims of motor accidents merely on the ground of policy violations by the vehicle owner.
A Bench, comprising Justices Sanjay Karol and Manoj Misra, observed that even when there is a breach of insurance policy conditions, the insurer must first compensate the claimant and can later recover the amount from the owner of the vehicle.
