New Delhi, Oct. 7 -- The Supreme Court today referred to a Constitution Bench the critical issue of career stagnation faced by young judicial officers who enter the judiciary at lower levels and find limited avenues for promotion within the judicial service.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai and Justice K. Vinod Chandran passed the reference order while hearing the All India Judges Association case.
The Court said that to ensure a long-term and comprehensive resolution, the matter requires consideration by a five-judge Constitution Bench.
Earlier, the Bench had sought responses from various High Courts and State Governments after expressing concern over the lack of growth opportunities for entry-level officers.
