New Delhi, Feb. 18 -- The Supreme Court on Tuesday quashed a 2014 criminal defamation case against Jaideep Bose, Editorial Director of Bennett Coleman and Co Ltd, the publisher of The Times of India.
The Court also set aside proceedings against co-accused Nergish Sunavala, Swati Deshpande and Neelam Raj, who were working as correspondents and editors at The Times of India at the time.
The defamation case was filed by M/s Bid and Hammer Auctioneers Private Limited over a newspaper article that allegedly implied that counterfeit artworks were put up for auction.
The Court quashed an earlier Karnataka High Court order and the Magistrate's summoning order, ruling that they suffered from procedural irregularities.
