New Delhi, Dec. 3 -- Taking strong exception to Maharashtra police not producing an accused in the court on 55 dates for hearing on bail, the Supreme Court ordered state prisons chief to probe the matter and submit a report.
Granted bail to accused Shashi alias Shahi Chikna Vivekanand Jurmani in a fatal stabbing case, a Division Bench comprising Justice Ahsanuddin Amanulla and Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra said it was "shocked" at the conduct of prison authorities.
Warning against any attempt to shield anyone, the Bench ordered Maharshtra's Director General of Prisons to investigate the matter and submit report within two months, listing the matter on 3 February 2026 for examining the report.
