New Delhi, April 23 -- Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the CBI to conduct a detailed probe into the thrashing of a businessman by former MP and gangster Atiq Ahmed's men inside prison cell and ordered suspension of erring jail officials found involved in the incident.
In its interim direction, a bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said "We order a CBI probe into the alleged thrashing of businessman inside the jail. It is very serious issue."
The Apex Court also ordered shifting of dreaded don and politician Atiq Ahmed from UP Jail to a jail in Gujarat after taking strong exception to the way his goons kidnapped a businessman into Deoria Jail in UP and thrashed him in his cell in December last year.
