New Delhi, Aug. 19 -- The Supreme Court today granted all States and Union Territories four weeks to file their replies in a public interest litigation (PIL) highlighting the rising cases of crimes against women, especially sexual offences.
The Court warned that States failing to comply would face ex-parte orders and monetary fines.
A Bench of Justice B.V. Nagarathna and Justice R. Mahadevan was hearing the matter.
The PIL was admitted in September 2024, and notices had already been issued to all States and Union Territories.
