Kolkata, Aug. 18 -- : Former West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee, arrested in connection with the multi-crore school jobs scam, secured a significant relief today as the Supreme Court granted him bail in a case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Chatterjee, who had earlier obtained bail in cases lodged by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), continues to remain behind bars at Presidency Correctional Home since 2022 due to multiple cases against him.
Today's order has raised hopes of his release, but legal experts caution that his freedom may not come soon. Several other cases, particularly linked to primary teacher recruitment, are still pending against the former minister.
