New Delhi, Dec. 1 -- The Supreme Court on Monday fixed December 4 for hearing the petition filed by the actor Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) challenging the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi took note of concerns raised by Senior Advocate Gopal Sankarnarayanan, appearing for TVK, regarding the alleged pressure exerted on Booth Level Officers (BLOs), including school teachers and anganwadi workers.
Sankarnarayanan submitted that BLOs were compelled to meet stringent targets and were threatened with action under Section 32 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, which prescribes up to three months' imprisonment ...
