New Delhi, Sept. 11 -- The Supreme Court today extended the interim order granting anticipatory bail to Poovai Jegan Moorthy, MLA from KV Kuppam, Tamil Nadu, in a case alleging his involvement in the abduction of a minor boy.

A Bench of Justice Manoj Mishra and Justice N.K. Singh was hearing Murthy's appeal against the Madras High Court order dismissing his anticipatory bail plea.

During the hearing, Advocate Muthucharan Sundresh, representing Moorthy, informed the Court that the parties had reached a settlement and filed an affidavit to that effect before the magistrate's court.

Taking note of this development, the Bench extended the interim protection from arrest and listed the matter for final disposal next week.
