New Delhi, Oct. 28 -- The Supreme Court today dismissed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed with a delay of 2,298 days by a convict from Punjab, observing that the prayer had been filed merely under a legal aid programme and without the convict's consent, amounting to misuse of the judicial process.
A Bench comprising Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Prasanna B. Varale was hearing the plea filed in the name of Kamaljit Kaur, who had been convicted by the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 2018. The SLP was filed almost seven years later through legal aid, seeking to challenge her conviction.
