New Delhi, June 16 -- The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the Samajwadi Party (SP) challenging an Allahabad High Court order that restrained its district president in Pilibhit from filing further writ petitions related to the alleged eviction of the party from its office in Pilibhit. However, the top court clarified that the party itself is not barred from approaching the High Court for appropriate relief.
A bench comprising justices Sandeep Mehta and PB Varale noted that the SLP suffered from a delay of 998 days and that the earlier writ petition had been filed by one Mr. Anand Singh Yadav, claiming to be the district president of the Samajwadi Party.
