SC dismisses PIL seeking CBI probe into alleged honey-trap
New Delhi, March 26 -- The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a court-monitored investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged honey-trapping of Karnataka legislators, political leaders, and judges.
A bench, headed by Justice Vikram Nath, comprising Justices Sanjay Karol and Sandeep Mehta, rejected the plea filed by Binay Kumar Singh, which urged the Apex Court or a committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge to oversee the probe.
The petition cited recent remarks by Karnataka's Cooperation Minister K N Rajanna, who claimed on March 20 that nearly 47 high-profile individuals, including politicians, had been targeted by honey-trap attempts.
