New Delhi, Sept. 8 -- The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition filed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (Telangana) seeking the restoration of a criminal defamation case against Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

The bench, comprising Chief Justice BR Gavai, Justice K. Vinod Chandran and Justice Atul S. Chandurkar, was hearing the challenge to the Telangana High Court's order that quashed the complaint filed by BJP state general secretary Karam Venkateshwarlau.

The complaint related to remarks made by Reddy alleging that the BJP would abolish SC/ST/OBC reservations if it secured 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
