New Delhi, April 24 -- The Supreme Court on Friday refused to hear writ petitions filed by individuals who were excluded from the electoral rolls in West Bengal after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), although they are currently serving as electoral officers in the ongoing Assembly elections.
Hearing the matter, a bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi told the petitioners to approach the appellate tribunals set up by the top court's order to hear challenges to such voter name deletions.
The petitioners were represented by Senior Advocate MR Shamshad, who told the Court that many such officers found their names arbitrarily struck off the voter list without any reason.
