New Delhi, Dec. 19 -- The Supreme Court on Friday called for a response from the State of Punjab on a petition filed by Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Punjab Cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia, who has questioned the Punjab and Haryana High Court's decision refusing him regular bail in a disproportionate assets case.

The Court, however, declined to grant him any interim relief at this stage.

A Bench comprising Justice Vikram Nath and Justice N.V. Anjaria issued notice on Majithia's Special Leave Petition challenging the High Court's order passed in connection with an FIR lodged by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
