New Delhi, Sept. 2 -- The Supreme Court today emphasised that its ruling on the Presidential reference concerning the powers of Governors in granting assent to state bills will not be influenced by political considerations.
A five-judge Constitution Bench comprising Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai and Justices Surya Kant, Vikram Nath, P.S. Narasimha, and Atul S. Chandurkar made the observation while hearing the reference submitted by President Droupadi Murmu under Article 143 of the Constitution.
The reference seeks clarity on the top court's April 11 judgment, which had prescribed timelines for Governors and the President to act on bills passed by State legislatures.
