New Delhi, Nov. 10 -- The Supreme Court on Monday voiced strong disapproval of what it described as an alarming trend of litigants levelling scandalous and baseless allegations against judges when judicial orders do not go in their favour.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai and Justice Vinod Chandran made the remarks while dropping criminal contempt proceedings against one N. Peddi Raju and two lawyers, Advocates Ritesh Patil and Nitin Meshram.
The contempt proceedings had been initiated after the trio made serious and defamatory allegations against Telangana High Court judge, Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya, in a plea seeking transfer of a case to another High Court.
