New Delhi, Oct. 30 -- The Supreme Court today directed a petitioner representing victims of the Karur stampede to approach the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with allegations that political pressure was being exerted on families to withdraw their petitions pending before the Court.
A bench led by Justice J.K. Maheshwari issued the direction after advocate Balaji Srinivasan made an urgent oral mentioning on behalf of petitioner S. Prabhakaran, who lost both his sister and fiancee in the tragic incident.
The bench informed the petitioner that the probe into the Karur stampede had already been transferred to the CBI, and any fresh grievances or allegations could be submitted to the agency.
