Mumbai/New Delhi, Jan. 12 -- The Supreme Court allowed the Maharashtra State Election Commission to postpone the forthcoming Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections after a hearing on Monday, January 12.
Earlier, the Maharashtra State Election had approached the Supreme Court and sought 10 more days to complete the local body election process.
Accordingly, the Supreme Court has given a 15-day extension to the Maharashtra State Election Commission to postpone Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections, directing it to complete the elections by February 15, 2026.
The Supreme Court had set a deadline for all local body elections in the state to be held before January 31.
