New Delhi, Sept. 27 -- The Supreme Court today permitted the manufacture of green firecrackers in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) ahead of the Diwali season but maintained the prohibition on their sale within the region.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai, Justice K. Vinod Chandran and Justice N.V. Anjaria, allowed manufacturers with valid certification from the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) and the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) to continue production, subject to an undertaking that no sales will occur in Delhi-NCR.
