New Delhi, Aug. 14 -- The Supreme Court today adjourned for eight weeks the hearing of a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by the Save Nimisha Priya International Action Council seeking urgent steps to save Indian nurse Nimisha Priya, who faces a death sentence in Yemen.
Priya, convicted by a Yemeni court in connection with a Case of 2018, had been scheduled for execution on July 16, 2025.
Her execution was stayed on July 15 until further orders.
A Bench comprising Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta was informed by Advocate K.R. Subhash Chandran that negotiations were currently underway.
The court, noting the update, fixed the matter for hearing after eight weeks.
