New Delhi, Dec. 16 -- The Supreme Court on Monday adjourned to January 7, 2026, the hearing on a plea filed by Gitanjali J. Angmo, wife of jailed climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, challenging his detention under the National Security Act (NSA).

A Bench comprising Justice Aravind Kumar and Justice N.V. Anjaria deferred the matter due to time constraints.

The writ petition assails Wangchuk's detention on September 26 as illegal and arbitrary, alleging violation of his fundamental rights.

Earlier, on November 24, the Court had deferred the hearing after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the union of India and the union Territory of Ladakh, sought time to respond to the rejoinder filed by the petitioner.
