Chandigarh, Jan. 6 -- The return of Punjabi woman Sarabjit Kaur from Pakistan to India has been put on hold after Pakistan's Interior Ministry raised objections, citing a case pending before a local court.
Preparations were reportedly complete to send her back to India via the Attari-Wagah border on Monday, but the process was halted at the last moment.
Officials said the Interior Ministry informed the court that since the matter is sub judice, Sarabjit cannot be repatriated until a final judicial order is passed. The ministry maintained that she had married in Pakistan of her own free will, and any legal action, including deportation, would follow only after the court's decision.
